WORX WG170 GT 20V 12-in. Trimmer/Edger Review

A string trimmer can be powered by gasoline, by an electric battery, or with a traditional power cord plugged into an outdoor outlet. All three types can slice well, depending on the model. However, if you tired of carrying around a heavy and smelly gas-driven string trimmer or tripping over exposed cord, then the WORX GT Revolution 20V 12-inches 3-in-1 yard tool may be the a great choice for you.

WORX engineers developed an innovative, next generation GT that’s even more  unstoppable, effortless and versatile. They added more features and even improved upon the features and efficiency of the GT. WORX WG170 GT Revolution features 3-in-1 flexibility, instantly converts from a precision string trimmer, to a powerful in-line wheeled edger, then to an easy-to-navigate mini mower. New features include the Command Feed extends line on control with the press of a switch, on-board extra spool holder get rid of downtime and wasted journeys to the  reduced pounds, a longer shaft and garage.

To efficiently feed the line, just press the Command Feed switch as needed while the machine is operating until you hear the ‘clattering’ noise of the line cutting. The line will instantly feed to the perfect size for trimming. The engine will shut off when pressing the Command Feed button and will restart when the switch is released.

The Worx Revolution is designed to be fully adjustable from the telescoping shaft, 7-position auxiliary handle, and 6-position pivoting trimmer head. At its shortest, the GT Revolution is certainly 35-3/4” long, but when fully extended, it’s a full 55-1/2” long. That’s a complete foot longer than earlier Worx GT models to better accommodate actually our tallest users comfortably. Don’t contort yourself to fit your trimmer, let it adapt to you.

To turn the cutting head for edging mode, grasp the black area of the shaft just above the cutting mind with one hand and the orange locking collar with the additional hand. Pull the tool apart, and you’ll feel the parts of the Revolution slide about an inch along the shaft. Twist the hands on the shaft over the trimming head 90 degrees and launch. To convert it back to trimming, repeat the guidelines, but twist 90 degrees in the opposite direction.

The two 2.0 Ah 20 Volt Max Lithium Batteries included are made to provide enough working time per charge to trim up to the average 1/4-acre yard on one charge. This 2.0 Ah battery can hold almost twice the amount of energy as previous 1.3 Ah model in the same size due to advanced battery chemistry, which means even more power and run time when it really counts. The batteries are fully compatible with over 30 other 20V WORX products so if you already have one or more Power Share batteries, you can buy the GT Revolution with out a battery for a much lower cost.

The Lithium battery must be fully charged before first use (it is not charged when you purchase it) which can take about 5 hours to fully charge each of the included batteries with the included charger. And never squeezing all battery juice out from the electric battery when it stops operating. That’s a sure-fire way to kill the battery. Just put it on the charger and recharge it. With two, you can keep one on the charger while you work, and monitor your battery’s power level with the built-in power gauge.

If you’re searching for a lightweight, adjustable, and convenient cordless string trimmer for the common lawn size for American homes (about one-fifth of an acre). This WORX WG170 GT Revolution 20V should be more than adequate for most homeowners.
